# INVALID_SCOPE

> 403 — the API key lacks the permission this endpoint requires.

**HTTP status:** `403` · **Code:** `INVALID_SCOPE`

## Example

```json theme={null}
{
  "type": "AUTHORIZATION",
  "code": "INVALID_SCOPE",
  "description": "The provided token does not have permission to access this resource.",
  "requestId": "0HNP2MAV4BUCF:00000004",
  "docUrl": "https://docs.telemax.com.au/errors/invalid-scope"
}
```

## Cause

Every API key carries a set of permitted actions, and endpoints require the matching one. A key without the endpoint's permission gets this `403`; some endpoints report an ID they cannot find as `404` first.

## What to do

The actions of an existing key cannot be changed. Create a key that includes the endpoint's action under **API Keys V2** in the Telemax dashboard, or use a key that already has it, then request a new token with that key.

See [Error handling](/v2/errors) for the full error model.
